Good evening Leopards!
We made it through all five days last week and are looking forward to another exceptional week at RSMS! Below are announcements for the week of February 23.
Parents please know we have updated our tardy policy due to the increased amount of late check-ins in the morning. Starting tomorrow, after three late check-ins your student will be assigned after school detention. Any other late checkins will follow a progressive disciplinary action. Students should be in class at 7:55 am.
Please review the attached SCS dress code. Students will be expected to follow the dress code. Please review with your child and ensure they are dressed for success each day!
Thank you to everyone who showed up to support our Athletic Department Thursday night at Burrito Shak! Your support is appreciated.
Our Spring sports season kicks off Thursday at 4:00 pm. Come out to support our Leopards!
Thank you for your support and helping us make RSMS the best it can possibly be!

Good evening RSMS parents, students, and stakeholders!
We have an exciting goal for this week… and it’s a big one! 😄
Our plan is to come to school for five full days. That’s right — Monday through Friday, all in one week! It’s been a little while since we’ve been able to say that, so we are setting our sights high and aiming for a perfect attendance streak.
We also have a few events happening so please take note.
Monday Night:
Lakewood District parents are invited to attend the Community Strategic Planning Meeting at Union High School beginning at 6:00 PM. Your voice matters! We appreciate any feedback you can provide to help guide the future direction and strategic plan of Sampson County Schools. This is your opportunity to help shape what’s next for our students and our community.
Thursday Night = Dinner with a Side of School Spirit!
Join us at Burrito Shak in Clinton from 4:00–9:00 PM to support our RSMS athletic program. Come enjoy dinner while our very own Athletic Director, Coach Masters, serves you! We can’t guarantee he’ll draw up a game plan for your burrito order, but we can guarantee it will be a fun night for a great cause. 😉
Mark your calendar for Spring sports pictures on Monday, March 2.
We’re looking forward to a full week of learning, growing, and making the most of our instructional time together. Thank you for helping us start each day on time, ready to learn, and prepared to make it a great week at RSMS.

Good evening RSMS parents and students. Please take note of the following updates.
All remote instruction packets from February 2, 3, & 4 are due tomorrow. Packets will not be accepted after Thursday at 3 pm.
Progress reports were sent home with students today. Some students received possible retention letters and after school Homework Club forms. Students interested in Homework Club this semester must turn in completed forms no later than next Tuesday, February 17. Please return signed progress reports tomorrow.
The mandatory Spring Sports Meeting for parents will be Wednesday, February 18 at 5:30 pm in the cafeteria. Please use the front door to enter the building.
Lastly, we need your help. Please reinforce with your students that school expectations should be met each day. We have too many students not meeting basic school expectations and disrespecting staff members.
We appreciate your support in ensuring all students receive a quality education while at RSMS. Thank you and Go Leopards!
Good evening RSMS parents! Below are a few updates for this week.
Our boys and girls' basketball teams will play at Midway Middle School on Monday. The girls' game will begin at 3:30 pm and the boys' game will follow. Due to dismissal at Midway Middle tomorrow please do not arrive prior to 3:10 pm.

Progress reports will go home on Wednesday with all students. Please review them with students.

Hello, Roseboro-Salemburg families! This is Ms. Hines, your principal, shaking off that ‘epic blizzard’—okay, maybe it wasn’t that epic, but we all survived the flurries! Tomorrow, we’re back to school—warm, safe, and excited to welcome our kiddos! Buses will run at normal times, and we’ll be waiting with warm smiles.
Remote instruction packets from Monday, January 26 are due upon students' return. Students who do not turn in one complete day from that packet will be counted absent for Monday, January 26.
Students will have until Thursday, February 12 to turn in all 3 days of completed work from the packet they received last Friday for this week. If students were not at school last Friday they may get a packet from their teacher to complete. Again, students must complete a full day's work to be counted present.
Boys and girls' basketball teams will have practice on Friday from 3:00 -4:30 pm. We will play in the semi-final conference game on Monday. The girls' game will begin at 3:30 and boys' game will follow, both at Midway Middle School. The championship game will be at RSMS on Wednesday starting at 4 pm.
The deadline for the 8th grade Washington, D.C. field trip deposit is tomorrow. If your child plans to attend please make sure their space has been reserved.
Thank you, and we can’t wait to have everyone back in class tomorrow!

Good afternoon RSMS Leopard Parents. Tuesday, February 3 will be a remote day for students and staff. Students should complete one day of work in their remote packets.
Please stay safe and warm. Go Leopards!

Students who were absent on Friday will receive their packet when we return to school.
Should there be any changes to Tuesday's schedule it will be announced.

Go Leopards!
Good evening parents. This is Ms. Hines calling from RSMS with your weekly announcements.
First, I want to thank all of our students for their attention and focus during our RSMS Mindset Reset on Thursday and Friday last week. Their behavior far exceeded the reputation of RSMS and their ability to receive the information and be a part of the positive change at RSMS was truly remarkable. We only have good days ahead with our Leopards!
We will continue with our alternate route for car riders this week while construction is still on going in front of the school. We appreciate everyone for your patience during this time.
Please remember that students who are not in the gate at 7:55 am are tardy and will need a parent to sign them in at the office.
Please have students bring in cardboard, cereal boxes, and any newspaper you have at home you don’t want or need for our Art Department.
All Band Students should bring their instruments each day! Even on days they do not have band, as this will get them into the habit of having their instrument for class. They will be able to store their instruments in the instrument storage starting next Wednesday, January 14th. Students are responsible for all instrument accessories such as reeds and valve oil.
Students identified as Multilingual Learners (MLs) will be taking the State Mandated Language Proficiency test (WIDA ACCESS) starting tomorrow. This test assesses four language domains: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. In order to exit the ESL program the MLs must score a 4.5 or higher overall composite. Please, encourage your ML to do his/her best on this test.
There is an AIG Field Trip to MMS on Jan 27. Please sign and return the permission slip by Friday January 16th for your student to participate!
Athletics is currently looking for a Head Baseball and Assistant Baseball coach. Please email our AD at jmasters@sampson.k12.nc.us if you are interested.
The Family Resource Center is now open.
Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
If you need to schedule an appointment outside of these hours, please contact Ms. Logan by phone at 910-379-6543 or by email at camille.logan@studentudurham.org.
The last home game of the regular basketball season is tomorrow, Monday, January 12 against Sampson Middle School. Our girls’ basketball team will play at 4 pm and our boys’ will start at the conclusion of that game. Students wanting to stay for the game must bring a note and $5 for admission. Students will not be allowed to call home to get permission so please send a written note with them.
We also have an away game on Thursday at Midway Middle School starting at 4 pm.
Parents please "Pop on By" Tuesday night for our Report Card Pick-Up. Eighth grade parents will meet at 5:00 pm for information about the 8th grade field trip to Washington, DC. Ms. Hines will present our RSMS Mindset Reset for parents at 5:30 pm and report card pick-up will follow until 6:20 pm. We will meet in the media center. We can’t wait to share with you what Grace, Gratitude and Growth is all about!
Have a great night and go Leopards!
