Sampson County Health Department is pleased to announce we are coming to your child's school this spring to offer in-school vaccinations for students entering the 7th and 12th grade for the 2024-2025 school year.

Tdap covers your child for tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis, also known as whooping cough. Meningococcal vaccine is given to help prevent meningitis.

Tdap and Meningococcal vaccines are required for students entering the 7th and a Meningococcal vaccine booster is required for students entering the 12th grade (10A NCAC 41A.0401).

This immunization opportunity will be available to current 6th and 11th grade students who have not already received Tdap or meningococcal vaccine. Check with your child's health care provider to see if your child has already received Tdap or Meningococcal vaccine. These are usually offered by your child's doctor after the child turns 11 and 16 years old. Vaccines will be administered by Sampson County Health Department nurses to students who have signed parental permission forms. Please see the linked documents below for detailed information on the immunizations and necessary forms for your child to participate in the in-school vaccination event.
