District Report Card

Dear Sampson County Schools Families and Community,

On behalf of Sampson County Schools, I am honored to share our district’s 2024-2025 North Carolina School Report Card. Each year, the state publishes this report to provide families and the public with important information about how our schools are performing and how we compare to other districts across North Carolina.

Inside the Report Card, you will find data about:

  • Academic performance and growth

  • Average class sizes and student demographics

  • Digital teaching and learning resources

  • Career and technical education opportunities

  • Discipline, safety, and attendance indicators

  • Educator and principal qualifications

  • Per-pupil expenditures and use of funds

We are proud to report that more than half of our schools met or exceeded academic growth expectations, and over 60% of schools earned performance grades of A, B, or C.  Our district graduation rate reached 87%—the highest in Sampson County Schools’ history. High school students performed above the state average in key subjects such as NC Math I and NC Math 3, while elementary and middle schools posted steady gains in English Language Arts and math proficiency.

At the same time, we continue to monitor areas needing additional support, including science proficiency. We remain committed to providing the resources, professional development, and targeted interventions necessary to address these needs.

Just as important as academics, we are investing in the social-emotional well-being of our students, ensuring that each child has access to safe and nurturing learning environments that foster both personal and academic growth.

It is important to remember that while the Report Card provides valuable data, it cannot fully capture the spirit and determination of our schools—the relationships built, the hours invested by teachers, the community support, or the opportunities students gain through athletics, arts, and service.

We encourage you to explore the Report Card, celebrate successes with us, and join in our commitment to continuous improvement. Together, we will ensure that every student in Sampson County Schools is prepared to graduate with options and thrive in the future.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

Sincerely,
Dr. Jamie King
Superintendent, Sampson County Schools

Other important factors — the extra hours put in by teachers preparing for class and grading assignments, the school spirit felt by families, and the involvement in sports, arts, or other extracurriculars - are crucial aspects of a school community, but are not reflected in the Report Card.
