We are excited to announce that Mrs. Ragan Pearson has been chosen to attend the "Winter in Yellowstone" program this month! The opportunity is offered through the Educators of Excellence Institute with the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. Mrs. Pearson has taught Social Studies at Hobbton High for the past 21 years and is also an HHS alum.
During the week-long program, Mrs. Pearson will observe wildlife and learn how they adapt to survive the cold. She will explore snowy landscapes, see geothermal areas where steam freezes into ice, and travel through the park by snow coach. She will also work with scientists and local experts to gain new ideas for teaching about winter weather, wildlife, geology, and conservation.
Mrs. Pearson said, "I'm very excited about experiencing Yellowstone in the winter and viewing animals in the wild, as well as learning more about the history of managing the park."
