Sampson County Schools is proud to announce the appointment of Michael Warren as the district’s new School Safety Director. With an extensive background in both educational leadership and safety engineering, Warren brings a unique blend of expertise and passion to this role.
“I am incredibly honored and excited to step into the role of Director of School Safety for Sampson County Schools,” said Warren. “ Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and families is a responsibility I take to heart. I look forward to working with our schools and community partners to create a secure and welcoming environment for our staff, students, and families.”
As School Safety Director, Warren will collaborate closely with all schools across the district to review and update their safety plans in compliance with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction’s School Risk Management Plan. His responsibilities will include developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety and security plans, establishing and refining emergency response procedures, and leading training programs for staff and students to ensure preparedness and awareness.
Prior to his most recent administrative role as principal at Hobbton High School, Warren served as principal of the SCS Alternative program at Charles E. Perry School and assistant principal at both Hobbton High and Midway High schools. He began his teaching career at Hobbton High School, where he taught high school mathematics. Warren’s career reflects a deep commitment to both safety and education.
Before becoming an educator, Warren worked approximately seven years as a safety engineer with Underwriters Laboratories in RTP, where he performed safety analysis and investigations on fans, heaters, and exit lighting products.
In 2001, Warren began his service as a firefighter with the Newton Grove Fire Department, where he also served as a safety officer and currently holds the rank of Lieutenant. He is also a member of the board of directors for Newton Grove Fire and Rescue.
Warren earned a Master of Education in School Administration from East Carolina University and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University.
