SGM-Retired Douglas S. Koser was born in Lewistown, PA.  He served in the US Army Military Police Corps Regiment from 1985 until his retirement from Active Duty in 2010. He still serves and wears the Army uniform every day as he is presently serving as a Junior ROTC Instructor; he taught at Lakewood High School from 2010 to 2016 and since then, currently teaches at Union High School in Sampson County, NC.

He has a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Excelsior University and is working on his Master’s Degree in Organizational Management.

SGM-R Koser is married to his lovely wife, Dawn and together they have has four grown children, eight grandchildren, and three dogs.  They reside in Burgaw NC. 

Welcome Cadets!!!  SGM-R Koser is the primary instructor for Leadership, Education and Training (LET) levels 1 and 2. As well, he coaches the JROTC Drill, Archery and Air Rifle teams.

The 85th JROTC Battalion has always been recognized by the Army as an "Honor Unit, with Distinction." We intend to conduct our operations to maintain this tradition of excellence.
