About Me

Welcome to my classroom!

I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNCW) in 1996—Go Seahawks! Since then, I have been blessed to spend my career doing what I love: teaching middle school mathematics.

I began my teaching career at Douglas Byrd Middle School in Cumberland County, where I taught 7th grade. In 2001, I moved to E.E. Smith High School, home of the Golden Bulls, to teach 9th-grade Algebra. In 2006, I joined the incredible family at Roseboro-Salemburg Middle School, and I have proudly called RSMS home ever since.

Over the years, I have learned that teaching is about so much more than mathematics. It is about building relationships, inspiring confidence, encouraging perseverance, and helping students discover what they are capable of achieving.

My Teaching Philosophy

I believe every child can learn when given the right support, meaningful opportunities, and a teacher who believes in them. Every student walks into my classroom with unique strengths, challenges, and experiences. My goal is to meet students where they are academically, encourage them to grow, and help them reach their full potential.

I strive to create a classroom where students feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, work hard, and celebrate progress. Success isn't about being perfect—it's about continuing to learn, persevere, and believe in yourself.

Teaching is one of the greatest privileges of my life. Each day I have the opportunity to make a difference through the lessons I teach, the relationships I build, and the expectations I set. While I hope my students leave my classroom with a strong foundation in mathematics, my greatest hope is that they also leave knowing they are capable of overcoming challenges, accomplishing great things, and making a positive impact on the world around them.
