Welcome!

Thank you for visiting my webpage! I'm Mr. Jayden Council, and I serve as the Distance Learning Facilitator at Midway High School. I oversee our online credit recovery program, Edmentum, and support dropout prevention efforts by working closely with students to help them stay on track toward graduation and achieve their academic goals.

This is my third year in public education. I began my career with Johnston County Public Schools and am currently in my second year with Sampson County Schools. Throughout my career, I have served as a School Nutrition Assistant and Bus Driver, an Exceptional Children Teacher Assistant and Bus Driver, and now as a Distance Learning Facilitator. I have experience working with students across all grade levels and am highly qualified under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), which replaced the No Child Left Behind Act.

I currently reside in Dunn, North Carolina, and I am a proud graduate of Triton High School. Go Hawks! During my time at Triton, I participated in the Teacher Cadet Early Childhood Education Program and had the opportunity to serve as a third grade teacher intern. I was also honored to be a member of the Harnett Teacher Academy.

In 2023, I participated in North Carolina's Leadership of Future Teachers (LIFT) cohort program, where I gained valuable professional development, strengthened my leadership skills, and built connections with educators from across the state. This experience provided me with a deeper understanding of the rewards and responsibilities of being an educator in the 21st century classroom.

I am currently pursuing a degree in English Education for grades 9 through 12 through the Teaching Preparation Degree Program, a partnership between East Carolina University and Wake Technical Community College. My passion for education is rooted in a desire to inspire students, foster meaningful relationships, and create engaging learning experiences that empower all learners to succeed.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, relaxing at the beach, shopping, reading, and cheering on the North Carolina Tar Heels.
