JROTC UNIFORMS & HAND RECEIPT INFORMATION

Each cadet is issued a complete set of uniforms as shown in the above posters. They each will wear, when assigned and for a grade, the Operational Combat Pattern (OCP) uniform and the Army Service Uniform (ASU). Each item of the uniforms is listed on the student's individual hand receipt, which is signed by the cadet and parent/guardian. The cost of each item is also included on that hand receipt. The total cost of uniforms comes to almost $700 per student. Any items that are lost, damaged, destroyed, or stolen is the responsibility of the cadet and is paid for before a replacement can be issued. Cadets are expected to keep the uniforms clean and serviceable. Failure to return all uniforms may be reported to authorities as larceny of government property.

Cadets are taught to properly wear and care for their uniforms. When worn, the complete uniform is to be worn, unless otherwise directed. Jackets and shirts are fully zipped and buttoned. Ties are tied and shoes and boots are laced and tied.

The cadet chain of command has authority to make corrections on other cadets and to direct them to properly wear their uniforms. It is insubordination to disobey the direction of a cadet leader acting on behalf of the JROTC program and instructors.

Each cadet is issued a complete physical training (PT) uniform as pictured above. It is a tee-shirt and shorts. This is the only PT uniform to be issued at all during their time as a cadet. It may be either a long or short sleeved shirt. Cadets provide and wear their own running shoes to PT.

Wearing improper shoes or any other item of clothing that prohibits participation in PT may result in a grade of 0 and cannot be made up. An unexcused absence on scheduled PT days will result in a grade of 0. Excused absences on PT days may be made up within 5 days by remaining after school to perform the PT missed or participate in a Raider Team practice if there is a Raider Team.

These hand receipt examples show what each cadet is typically issued at the start of their time as a cadet. Some cadets will be issued specific items based on their performance, duty position, or co-curricular activities. Each item is issued in a clean and serviceable state. Each cadet is responsible to keep each item in a serviceable and clean condition. It is the cadet's responsibility to notify their chain of command about any problems with their uniform WELL IN ADVANCE of the time to wear it. Cadets will wear the designated uniform at designated times per the training schedule. A cadet who shows up missing uniform items will be graded according to the syllabus. A problem with a uniform or any item of it is not an acceptable reason for failing to wear the uniform. A cadet present on uniform day who does not wear their uniform earns a grade of 0 and cannot be made up. A cadet absent on uniform day must wear the uniform on the first day of their return to school in order to earn a grade.

These items are turned back in at the end of the year or semester. Any missing or damaged items are the cadet's responsibility and must be paid for. If not paid, the cadet will be placed on the school's debt list.

Cadets are taught how to properly wear and care for their uniforms. Uniforms should not be worn for personal daily activities outside of school or school sponsored events. They should not be worn to conduct yard work, mechanic work, or other activities that will permanently stain or damage the uniform.

Cadets are inspected each week for proper wear and appearance in their assigned duty uniform. Missing or improperly worn items reduces a cadet's grade.

Uniforms are US Government property. As such, theft, loss, or damage of them could result in a federal warrant for larceny of government property. Failure of a cadet or parent to sign and return a hand receipt does not relieve the cadet of responsibility. It may result in failing uniform grades over time, disenrollment from JROTC, or financial liability.
