Leopard Battalion Fundraising
The things we participate in require money. Each Raider, Drill, or Archery competition can cost as much as $150 each. Anytime we use an activity bus we pay $1.00 per mile. Archery equipment and other items not issued or available from the US Army cost money. We would like to buy a full array of 3D archery targets. They cost nearly $3,000. Our military ball costs from $3000-$4000. We take 5-10 cadets to camp each summer and our fundraising should cover the cost of $300-$500.
Cadets earn credit for each dollar they help earn for the JROTC program. Those funds may be used to pay for shirts, hoodies, and the military ball. Those who do not help raise money will be required to pay for attendance at the military ball and can always pay for shirts and hoodies.
Blood Drives
We manage 4 Blood Drives during the school year. Cadets may earn their way to the military ball by donating blood. Those who are not able to donate may recruit up to 2 students to earn credit. Two donations will cover their cost to the military ball. Those who earn more than 2 may share their credits with other cadets or guests to attend the ball. Seniors who donate at least twice during their senior year earn a red Blood Donor cord to wear at graduation. Anyone can donate outside of the hosted events at LHS. Simply tell the donor center staff that you are donating on behalf of LHS JROTC. We earn $20 per donation at the end of the year and greatly help our community gain the blood supply desperately needed.
Car Washes
Car washes are a quick way to earn a fair amount of funds quickly. Our goal is to gain $1,000 in donations at each car wash. Cadets volunteer either the full day or the hours when they can to perform tasks to clean cars and ask for donations from the public. It is a chance for cadets to organize and train themselves to accomplish a pretty complicated operation. It is a chance to directly gain experience leading people and leading teams. Participation is highly encouraged and can be recognized with a ribbon to wear on the cadet ASU uniform.
Other Fund Raisers
Snap! Raise
We have used this method before with mixed results. It simply uses existing social networks to publicize the fundraiser and asks for donations. This is a way for cadets to earn or share credit for unit costs.
Concessions
On occasion, and when needed, we have the opportunity to perform tasks that earn our program the funds we need. We stand ready to fill any gaps in coverage by other programs like the band or athletic boosters. These are not routine and are opportunities of chance.
Donations
We are always willing and able to accept donations and to establish sponsorships. Our archery team is very successful and get a lot of notice and could be a good way to market your local business or organization.
Grants
We have benefited from several grants in the past and seek them out actively. Currently we have a $3,000 grant to build a small obstacle course for physical training and Raider Team training. We have earned grants in the past for archery equipment and our military ball.
