About Me

Hello Wildcat Family! I teach CTE (Career Technology Education) to grades 6, 7 and 8 at Hobbton Middle School. While my teaching career only began in March of 2023, I have over 40 years of working knowledge and on the job experience in business and owning my own business. I received my BS in Accounting and Business from The University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 1984 and I am currently enrolled in the Residency Licensure Graduate Program at North Carolina State University.

Many people and even many of my students have asked me why in the world I would want to teach at the end of my working career, after spending over 40 years in the world of business. The answer is simple! Students, I became a teacher because of each of you! Your education and your future matters to me and I feel I have so much that I have experienced and learned in the business world that I can share that will help you be the very best you can be! I look forward to meeting, as well as teaching each of you in the future.

Curriculums and Grade Level Classes I Teach:

• 6th Grade--Keyboarding and Typing (In this class you will learn to type proficiently as you master the keyboard and the proper typing techniques. You will also be introduced to various types of letters and document typing)

• 7th Grade--Introduction to Office Technology (In this class you will be introduced to the World of Google Docs (letters, memos, etc.), Google Sheets (spreadsheets and formulas) and Google Slides (presentations), as well as the many types of office environments and office machines available to the business world today)

• 8th Grade--Exploring Careers and Employment (This class will do much to prepare you for High School in helping you to determine the correct "Pathway" that you should be on as you begin to develop your unique career interests. We will spend time on career research, presentations, resumes, personal finance, Parliamentary Procedure practices used in business and much, much more)
