About Me:
My name is Keith Coleman. I teach Multi Language Learners at Hargrove Elementary. I went to York College of Pennsylvania in York, PA and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education in 1995. I attended graduate school at University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill for English As a Secondary Language in 2004. I have taught first, second, and third grades for 29 years in the Diocese of Harrisburg in Pennsylvania, Duplin County, and Wayne County. This is my ninth year teaching ESL and my ninth year in Sampson County.
I ran cross county and track and field while at York College. I have coached Track and Field for York Catholic for several years. I still run 3-4 times a week and participate in many races. I enjoy working in Sampson County!
Curriculum:
In ESL, I focus on helping students attain English Language skills. I focus mainly on vocabulary, phonics, and comprehension when instructing students. These skills will help improve their goals in all other academic areas: Science, Social Studies, Math, Language Arts, and Social and Instructional Language. Instruction will strengthen their skills in key language uses: to narrate, inform, argue, and explain.
