Hello Everyone!! My name is Shannon Jackson and I'm excited to be working with Clement Elementary Pre K again this year. I have worked here as a Teacher's Assistant in Pre K since 2020. However, I've been working with this age group for 13 years. This is my first year as a Pre K Lead Teacher and I plan to use all the knowledge and experience I've gained in those 13 years to better serve my students. I have a passion for teaching and absolutely LOVE this age group. Being able to see the world through the eyes of a child is wonderful. They are full of imagination and excitement when learning new things. I look forward to an amazing year with all my new students and their families.

Curriculum:

Lessons are created that target Social Emotional Learning, Physical Development, Language Development, Cognitive Development, Literacy, Mathematics, and Science/Technology. Each lesson is designed to provide opportunites for growth in a variety of different ways. For example, young children learn through play and hands-on learning experiences. Learning Centers are set up to encourage children to explore different materials and use their imaginations. Observations and data samples are collected in order to effectively monitor each child's progress and highlight areas where they may need extra support for each domain. Family involvement and open communication are critical parts of the NC Pre-K program. When working towards common goals, teachers and families are better able to address children's needs.

My Teaching Philosophy: I tailor learning opportunities to fit the needs and interests of every student, while encouraging them to explore and experience new things in the world around them.
