Being that I was born and raised in northwestern Pennsylvania, North Carolina is a new home for me. After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh in December 2013, I applied to Teach for America, an Americorps social justice program dedicated to ensuring that one day all children receive the quality education they deserve. I was placed in Eastern North Carolina in the summer of 2014 as an Exceptional Children's Teacher. I specialized in Curriculum Assistance for remedial mathematics and English. Although my Teach for America teaching placement was for two years, I decided to stay beyond my commitment. I chose to make Eastern North Carolina my home. After three years as an Exceptional Children's teacher, I am transitioning into my role as the new mathematics teacher. I am very excited about this journey that I am about to take with our wonderful students at LHS. I also founded and run LHS Travel Club with Ms. Amy Kelly due to my love of travel. (I have been to roughly 24 countries so far, and I am not looking to slow down!) LHS Travel Club successfully completed its very first international trip in June 2016 to Germany and The Netherlands for a "Human Rights and the Holocaust" tour and international youth leadership summit. In the summer of 2018, LHS will travel to Costa Rica. In the summer of 2019, LHS will travel to Japan. I am looking forward to a great year with my LHS family.
