The HMS library is looking for students to help in the library during exploratory time. Media Tech Assistants should be comfortable interacting with others and enjoy being in the library. This will count as an exploratory class.

Responsibilities as an assistant include checking books in and out, assisting students in finding books, shelving and organizing books in your assigned section, helping to keep the library neat and tidy, completing errands for Mrs. Warren, providing basic tech support, and yearbook creation.

Applying to be a Media Tech Assistant does not guarantee that you will become or continue to be a page throughout your middle school years. Several factors will be considered along with your application. School work is important, and you are expected to meet all your classroom expectations. Your behavior and attitude should be exceptional in the library as well as the classroom, and you should be responsible and trust worthy.

For this job, you need to know the following:

*Basic computer skills such as navigating the internet, typing a document, create a PowerPoint, and sending an email
*Dewey decimal system basics for fiction and nonfiction books
*How to create bulletin boards and book display
*How to find books in our online catalog and on the book shelves.

YOU WILL ALSO NEED TO HAVE THREE TEACHERS COMPLETE A TEACHER RECOMMEDATION FORM THAT HAS BEEN EMAILED TO THEM. ONE TEACHER MUST BE YOUR ELA TEACHER, BUT THE OTHER TWO CAN BE ANY TEACHER THAT HAS TAUGHT YOU THIS YEAR.

NOTE: If you are not selected at this time, I will keep your application on file in case an opening becomes available at a later date.

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Media Tech assistant. I look forward to working with you and learning about your many special talents and interests!

    Mrs. Warren
