Currently, I teach English 4 and Literature on the Stage (Theatre) at Union High School. Co-curricularly, I enjoy serving as the UHS Drama Director, co-sponsor of the student-led Hispanic Leadership Club, and co-developer of Rose Hill Boutique.
My previous teaching experience includes instructing English, Science, and Ballroom Dance in a variety of capacities. Previously, I served a U.S. Fulbright Grant in the rural jungle of Malaysia, where I taught English and Science, created a bilingual curriculum and directed school plays for the U.S. Embassy at SMK Padang Tengku.
I have also lived in the agricultural capital of Morocco, where I studied Arabic and French languages and taught English to both adults and children. I first fell in love with teaching in Nepal, where I had the opportunities to teach at Nepalese orphanages and volunteer at Women’s Skill Development Centers. Through my travels, I have gained an appreciation of how literature and theatre empower teenagers, cross-culturally.
I want our students to graduate with a strong sense of personal responsibility and understanding of their talents. I love motivating students to constructively express themselves through literature, writing, and Theatre Arts. In the words of Maya Angelou, “People won’t remember what you said, they won’t remember what you did, but they will always remember how you made them feel.”
In my spare time, I enjoy travel and mission work, being active outdoors, practicing yoga, reading and live music, and spending quality time with my loved ones.
