Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year!

Mr. Joshua Tew is a graduate of The University of North Carolina at Pembroke. His primary instrument is tuba, which he regularly performs throughout the state of North Carolina. Mr. Tew has taught band, chorus, and general music to all age groups in private and public schools. Even though Mr. Tew's primary instrument is tuba, he is proficient at piano and the other wind band instruments as well. Mr. Tew is currently the band and chorus director at Midway High School and teaches private piano and wind band instrument lessons. He was selected as the Midway High School Teacher of the Year for the 2015-2016 school year. Before being full-time at Midway High School, Mr. Tew also served as the band director at Midway Middle School. He also enjoys conducting honor band/choir clinics, as well as judging talent shows and marching band competitions. Mr. Tew is a member of the National Association for Music Education and the Southeastern District Band Directors Association, where he serves as a board member. He also serves as the chair and host of the Southeastern District Band Directors Association Solo and Ensemble Music Performance Adjudication. Mr. Tew also served as the 2019 9th/10th grade All-District Band clinician for the district, after being nominated by his peers.

Outside of school, Mr. Tew enjoys animals, having a pet cat ("Raider" - from the Class of 2019) and chickens!  He is also a big NASCAR fan. Mr. Tew is also a proud graduate of Midway Middle and Midway High Schools and loves teaching in the Midway District!
