Week of January 14, 2013: All students will begin logging in with their new user accounts. These accounts are for 4th grade and up. Their server ID's will match their Gaggle Email Account. Their new log in will be
firstname.lastname123
(last 3 digits of ncwise number.) Password will be ncwise number. Students will have access to a home folder (H: Drive) again to save their work. The students' new account
WILL NOT HAVE ACCESS
to their old home folder. Any students who have still been using their old accounts and saving files to the server will need to move them to their new account. They can transfer these files to their Gaggle Digital Locker then put them back on their new home folder. The old user accounts will be deleted at a certain point so if files are not transferred they will not be recoverable. There will also probably be some students who will not be able to log in. Let those student use the generic student log in until an account can be created. Send the names of these students to the person who does your technology work orders. Then they can create a work order ticket with a list of these students so they can be added to the system.
Other notes about the new student accounts:
Students can change their passwords by pressing CTRL + ALT + DEL in Windows and their will be the option to change password. Passwords must be changed in Windows. If a student changes their password in Gaggle it will not match up with their account at school. Students who forget their password will be handled the same as for staff; submit a work order ticket for a password reset.
When a student logs in the My Documents folder will be mapped to their home folder (H: Drive.) The home folder will have about 500MB of space.
Thanks and let me know if you any further questions about the new student accounts.
